Pretending to be a Movie Star

Fav placeFav placeI love trips to the Grove, my favorite shopping center in Los Angeles.  I went today to specifically go to the Farmer’s Market to pick up fresh fruit (which is actually cheaper buying it there than at the grocery store).  I am so used to living in Hollywood and West Hollywood that when I come from outside the city, I am never sure which is the best exit to take.  Normally I take Cahuenga off of the 101 (which is the Hollywood/Highland exit), but today for some reason I thought it would be faster to take Hollywood off of the 101, WRONG.  I sat in traffic lights and more congestion and I took a longer route than if I would have just gotten off in my usual place, Cahuenga.

An hour after leaving my apartment, yes, an hour, I finally make it to the Grove (which from my apartment in the middle of a weekday should usually take no longer than a half hour).  I finally park, grab my sunglasses and head down the escalator.  In order to look like a movie star, you have to walk like one, so, I wore my sunglasses pretending to be in a hurry, while never really looking anyone in the eye.  As I passed I could see tourists trying to see if I was a celeb or not (or at least if nothing else they were giving me that look).  I quickly stopped in Forever 21 because my sweet friend Jenny got me a gift card there for a going away present and I can never have too many short and cute dresses while living in LA.  I tried on a few items, nothing was quite standing out or working the way I had pictured, bummer.

I put my sunglasses back on and took off towards the Farmer’s Market, man I love this place.  When I first moved to LA back in 2003 I lived right next door to the Grove, best first apartment in LA, EVER!  My roommates and I would walk over almost everyday just to hang out, people watch, grab a coffee, see a movie or shop.  The Grove doesn’t feel the same to me now as it did back then, but I still love it.

I cut through an entrance of the Farmer’s Market, quickly (keeping up my act of making people guess if I am a movie star or not) checking out all the yummy little food places there are to eat at.  I finally get to the fruit stand which is all the way at the end (practically).  I grab a TON of fresh fruit because it is so cheap and fresh, got to love the Farmers Market.  I also grabbed a few other snacks that they offered, yogurt covered pretzels and chocolate covered peanuts, I know J will love them.   I pay (cheap), and head back towards my car, just as fast and as mysterious as I walked in.

As I am driving back to my apartment, I decide to stop at my old college, AADA and see if my diploma with my AA degree was ever printed.  The old registrar was fired for not doing his job, which totally makes sense, because he had screwed me over on college credits (telling me the wrong classes), and then never printed my AA degree/diploma as promised.   The new registrar is super sweet, but there is not much she can do, the old registrar told me Nutritional Science counted as a Natural Science… wrong.  So now I have to get approval from Ms. Hayes who was my dance teacher (to which I am currently taking dance classes with) and is now running the school for the next year.  The good thing, while stopping in, I saw my old voice and speech teacher and she told me that her and my old acting teacher are putting up and acting/dialect class on Saturday mornings for a great deal in price – score!  I hope to start taking classes this weekend.
