My mom has officially arrived back into Southern California! Yay – it makes me a happy girl once again! My mom and her ex-husband (who have been dating still since the divorce) have decided to buy a house together in San Diego, so my mom just moved her first load of stuff down from Washington. She stopped by my apartment early Sunday morning around 2 am, we chatted for a bit then passed out. She had been driving all day (16 hours from Washington), so she was pretty exhausted.
When we all woke up (me, my mom and my boyfriend) later on Sunday morning, my boyfriend and I decided to take my mom out to breakfast, our new favorite spot to eat- Granville Café in Burbank. We all ordered delicious food and shared it. Sixty dollars later, I was paying the bill and we were on our way back to my apartment so my mom could continue on her way to San Diego. It feels great to have my mom so close by again!
My boyfriend and I decided that we needed to run a few errands, so we first went to get his haircut (as we usually do once a week). He’s been dying to check out this candy shop, I believe called “Rocket Candy and Soda” on Magnolia. As soon as we went inside he was freakin’ out. I never knew he loved candy more than me, and even then I was no where near as excited about this place as he was. I think his favorite part was that they had a million different kinds of soda, some that he has had before and loved and couldn’t find anywhere else – score.
We then headed to The Grove to exchange his Ed Hardy shoes (too small), but we realized that the Grove Nordstrom doesn’t seem to sell Ed Hardy any longer. I know that Ed Hardy is no longer exclusive to Nordstrom, but the fact that they do not sell any Ed Hardy stuff, weird?! Since we could not find his specific Ed Hardy shoes, we decided to wait and go to a different and much larger Nordstrom.
As we were just walking around the Grove checking things out, some girl stops my boyfriend to give him hand lotion (the kiosk people). Me, not being interested headed towards Crate and Barrel, and stopped to wait for him. Just as I pulled out my iPhone to check my email, two guys walked over to me. One had said, “hey, I forgot which parking structure I parked in.” This made me laugh inside because there are only two, and if you parked at the Grove, and not the Farmer’s Market, then it really shouldn’t be that difficult. His friend walks up to me and asks if I have Texas Hold ‘Em on my iPhone, I told him that I wasn’t really into Texas Hold ‘Em, he then asks if I gamble a lot, I tell him no, but I do play Blackjack. He then tells me about his trip to Commerce Casino, winning two hundred dollars. My boyfriend and I just went there the night before and he had lost, we actually hate Commerce Casino for the fact that you have to pay to play Blackjack.
My boyfriend walks over just as the guys were telling me that they should take me with them to the Casino. As the first guy sees my boyfriend he tells him that they are hitting on me, and he would have to stand in line if he wants a turn (wtf?). I quickly tell the guys that he is my boyfriend and they make another joke about him having to wait. My boyfriend (who I totally thought was going to blow up in their faces) was polite and played along with their joke, but then quickly said, “Alright guys, we’ll catch you later” and we walked off into Crate and Barrel. He then asked me if I knew who those guys were, “Nope, not a clue.” He started to get a little upset because this was the first time that he did not jump to conclusions and decided to be nice just in case they were friends of mine. I thanked him for being polite, because it easily could have been friends of mine, but then reassured him I had no clue who the hell those guys were.
He kept thinking about it the rest of the day, but he didn’t let it ruin our fun. We played around about which couches, tables and odds and ends we would eventually want in our house. We walked around the Grove going into different stores dreaming of the day we’ll be lucky enough to finally live together.
Life is good!
