Everything Happens For A Reason
BelieveLife has been looking up the last few weeks and it’s nice. I believe everything happens for a reason and I also believe that being a hard worker will pay off. I come from a family of hard workers, both my mom and dad are work-a-holics, my grandpa and my brothers too. I started out going to a casting director workshop, letting them know I was interested in casting and helping out, they then asked me to be an intern (after reading for them a few times) and that led to being an assistant for Space Station, which now will soon be a full time position with possibly even my own office and flexibility for auditions. I must say that I have been pretty blessed with work and finding good, yet flexible jobs.
My luck has for sure changed, the other day I was called back on Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 for some insert shots. I was just playing a waitress in the wedding scene, but because there were only 5 of us on set we were all given SAG vouchers and even better I only worked four hours, well really only twenty minutes, but I was there for four hours. The DP of camera C seemed to like me, his name was John. He remembered me from our first shoot during the wedding scene were I placed a heart onto the wedding cake (another insert shot). We chatted for awhile about my boyfriend, my day job as a blogger, his daughter and his fun family. He even let me sit on his special camera operating chair, it was nice being on such a small set (and by small I mean only 5 talent).
Today I was helping a director cast his film. He could not bring his own reader, so he hired a reader from our company. I had one of the interns read for him at first, but then she had to leave, so I took over. He loved what I did so much (as a reader) that he offered me the female role in his film. I told him I would have to get back to him, but honestly the short film sounds like a blast and a great role for my reel. Its about a mother who’s son committed suicide at around age 10 (I’m slightly too young, but hey, my mom had a kid at 17, so could I) because he was raped by a man and ashamed. The mother tries to find her son’s rapist by pretending to be her son in a chat room online and later meets him in the woods with her son’s baseball bat. She ends up befriending a man she thought at first was his rapist, but then thinks he is just a nice man who brought his son fishing (but really he had planned to rape who he thought was her son). The role has several great parts in it, we shall see.
I was also lucky that my friend Charlie was able to get my mom, my grandparents and myself tickets to the Ellen show. My grandparents are obsessed with Ellen and were super ecstatic to be able to attend her show while they’re in town for Thanksgiving.
I was also able to watch an episode of The League which was the first background job I had done while in Los Angeles. It’s a freakin’ awesome show, I highly recommend it to EVERYONE (well, it does contain quite a bit of adult content, but it is hilarious!) I walk right in front of the camera in episode 2 just as the main actor says, “nice pants, they make your ass look fat.” He, although was not talking to me, I was wearing a dress, but the girl who crossed the same time I did. It is funny how things all seem to work out in the end… Now if only my boyfriend hadn’t left for five weeks (oh well, more time to focus on me).
