  • Immune System, Where Did You Go?

My body seems to be falling apart on me and I have no clue why, the only thing I can think of is because I work from home.  When I used to be a nanny I had an amazing immune system and I would rarely get sick, even though the children I would watch were constantly sick.

It all started last week when I felt like I may have developed a kidney infection.  I have had issues before in the past, but nothing ever like a kidney infection.

  • Sun Burnt Saturday

The MintThe MintI woke up feeling sun burnt from Friday’s craziness.  Christine and I went to Ihop for breakfast, and then I jetted off to see my friend who is visiting from Kuwait in Temecula.  We visited for a couple hours by his friend’s pool and I could feel myself getting more and more burnt (lobster red).  I decided I should get out of the sun and head back home, hoping to get to my PMB in time before it closed to see if The Bicyclists dvd arrived in the mail.  Yay, it arrived!  Even better news is that the way I took home was much faster than going I-5 with all the backed up traffic!

  • TWBFL at Comic Con

GO Yellowjackets!GO Yellowjackets! If you did not already know, I am a part of The World Bikini Football League.  I am the captain of the Vancouver Yellowjackets and I play the position of wide receiver.  That may be changing soon though, as we are looking to expand our league into southern California.

On Friday, my quarter back, Christine and I were heading to Comic Con in San Diego to promote TWBFL – hand out cards, take pictures with fans, hopefully get interviewed, etc. On our way, we stopped off at Starbucks in Mira Mesa to get some breakfast and coffee.  This guy who looked and sounded like he was from India kept staring at us, we assumed it was because we were wearing bright yellow tanks that said our names, TWBFL and our team info on it, but we were wrong…  He came over to our table and told us that he wanted to ask us a serious question.  He then proceeded to ask us if he could be our “feet worshiper” and for us to “dominate him”.

BUD/SBUD/SI left to San Diego Thursday afternoon after my second casting session - this time it was much better with lots of variety and bigger choices from the actors.

I talked to J on the way to Christine’s (my BFF and QB for TWBFL) in San Diego and he had mentioned that he was doing a ‘Rock Portage’ around 7pm in Coronado and that we could come and watch.  I have never seen him do anything with the Navy, I have seen his old job in Whidbey Island, but I have never seen him PT or actually work and since this was his passion and I had a chance to watch, I didn’t want to miss it.  I arrived at Christine’s around 6pm, I met her dad and we sat around and talked for a bit. All of a sudden it was already 7.  Christine and I headed out towards Coronado and we decided to grab some Starbucks before heading over to watch on the beach.

  • Becoming a Casting Director

    Add Comment

Today I got to go into a casting director’s office in Hollywood and help out.  As Dan (the head casting director) had mentioned, I came dressed as I would be cast as (he suggests dressing like your specific LA pigeon holed character type everyday).  I also baked some cookies the night before to bring into the casting session – who doesn’t love freshly baked cookies (right Jenny)?

My new rideMy new rideThis weekend was a crazy weekend.  J came up to visit and he needed to find a car (he was stressing out not having one, whether he’ll admit it or not).  We woke up semi-early on Saturday and left to go car shopping down Brand Ave in Glendale.  He was really only interested in getting another Jeep either wrangler that someone had put a lot of money into, or a Rubicon (nothing brand new, he didn’t want higher payments again like his old, but brand new 09 Rubicon that was totaled).  Since we didn’t see a Chrysler/Jeep dealer on Brand (they must have went out of business), we stopped at Toyota.

  • Irvine Audition

IrvineIrvineOh, Irvine, how I loathe the drive, but I came to you today anyways.  Just as I was almost to my Irvine audition, Dan (Casting Director) called me about being their reader today for an audition that went from 1pm to 3pm.  If only my audition wasn’t at 1pm and a hour and a half drive from Hollywood (with traffic) I could have done it.  Bummer!  I hope that doesn’t stop me from being called again for their “reader” position for casting.

  • Best $25 I Have Spent in LA Yet!

Since my acting class that I was supposed to start taking fell through, I took my first acting type of class since I have been back to Los Angeles, (actually the first acting class I have taken since going to AADA) this last Tuesday.  It was really a casting director workshop, but they worked on scenes and auditions with us, so I pretty much considered that an acting class.  They also picked apart our resumes and headshots and told us (what I already know) that in order to survive and get ahead in this industry if you are not already doing co-staring roles on television shows and leading roles in big budget indies, that you need to pigeon-hole yourself into a character type that you do/look/play well.  I am always the “girl- next-door” but even tha

  • Happy Birthday to ME!

DisneylandDisneylandSo, last Friday was my birthday and ever since I heard Disneyland was giving away free passes on your birthday, I was set on going.  J, busy training in BUD/s and on top of that a non-stop busy weekend preparing to phase up with his class, couldn’t spend my birthday with me, even though he wanted to.  Luckily I have some amazing friends and one of them had decided to go with me, Casey.

  • Day From Hell

I woke up with a massive headache and finally decided to e-mail (once again) my landlord, whom I have already called three times about my oven/stove.  First it was broken (they never fixed it, someone else did), now it leaks gas, which is causing my headaches and dizziness when I stand around the oven for over five minutes.

My audition was bumped up to 11am, instead of 2pm, so I had to prepare for that this morning.  I left the house early, worried that all the Michael Jackson funeral traffic would hold me up, but I was clear.  I stopped by my PMB, picked up my mail, went to Target to pick up a few things, then off to my audition.  Street cleaning day, lovely – no parking.  I finally found a spot about 4 blocks from the audition place, not too bad… either that or a nice $65 ticket.  I even thought of parking on the street cleaning side and stealing someone else’s ticket and putting it on my car so that I would potentially be safe, but no.

  • Weekend Update

What a crazy weekend! J had Friday off, so he came in via train on Thursday night.  It was nice to see him.  I made my first pasta salad, which required Catalina dressing, making it red, making people not want to eat it just by the color - wasted (it was delicious though, it had a tang to it, but I will never make it again).  Saturday was a great day.  J and I decided to head to Hurricane Harbor, Six Flags to cool off from the hot LA weather.  We knew it would be packed, but we didn’t think we would have to park like 3 miles from the entrance, which we ran to, btw.
